My name is Frank
Kurt Bergert and I was born in 1960 in the city of Lindau, which is situated on an island on the lake of Constance (in German: Bodensee). Lindau
belongs to the state of Bavaria and is a German bordertown
to Austria. Not far away is Switzerland (about 20 km)
and the small principality of Liechtenstein (about 60 km). For the first twelve
years of my life I lived at Lindau. Afterwards I was
living near by in the western Allgaeu,
a beautiful region at the edge of the Alps, where I still live. After my final
examination I left the Bodensee-Gymnasium Lindau in
summer 1979 and - duty calls - went to the German Army for my basic military
service for 15 months at Bruchsal
and Sonthofen.
I started my vocational training in 1980 at the Volksbank
Lindau, which now is a branch of the Volksbank Allgaeu-Oberschwaben eG. After several years as a bank clerk, finally as branch
manager at Lindau-Aeschach, I intended to do
something new. Therefore I went to a college at Mannheim (near Heidelberg) which I left in
1989 with a diploma (Diplom-Verwaltungswirt). Since
then I've been a member of the upper civil service at the job centre, first for
three years at Ravensburg,
then for one and a half year at Wangen and since December 1993 at Lindau.
